Wilmington Senior Hockey : Headlines Mike Dora (1943-2007) October 18, 2007 The Passing of a Great person! Mike Dora, you will surely be missed!MICHAEL DORA Michael A. Dora, Sr. Of Wilmington, DE, died Tuesday October 16, 2007. He was 64. Mr. Dora was born to the late Stephen and Mary Dora. Mr. Dora was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT and received a business degree from Boston College in 1965. He worked in sales for Eastman Kodak for 24 years and Canon for 5 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was involved with youth hockey in the Wilmington area since 1972. Mike was a member of the board of directors for the Wilmington Skating Club. He served as President of the Wilmington Wheels Youth Hockey Program for several years. He was a coach and the consummate volunteer. After his coaching days, he stayed involved with hockey in the area as a referee for the Delaware Bobcats women's league and various men's leagues in Delaware and Pennsylvania. Mr. Dora was also a youth baseball coach in Naaman's Little League. Over the past 7 years, Mike and his wife Jo-Ann spent their summers in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. As a part-time resident of Eastham, Mike enjoyed spending his time on the Campground Beach where he was often seen kayaking, clamming, and walking on the beach. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Anna Kelly. He is survived by his wife, Jo-Ann Dora; 2 sisters, Anna Mary Miller and Elizabeth Alsever; 2 sons, Michael Jr., and Stephen; 2 daughters, Heather Dora Kelly and Jeanne Dora Woodbury and 13 grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am, on Friday October 19, at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naaman's Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810. Friends may call at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE on Thursday evening, from 6-8 pm. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven, CT on Saturday.
